Dinosaur Babies is a level 2 reader that it is more advanced than others in this category from the same publishing house. That is perfectly normal and expected as even I have trouble reading Deinonychus. For a kid who loves dinosaurs, it would not be a problem to see a picture of a triceratops and say the word without reading it. But you can still go over the word and "chunk it" or "sound it out".The illustrations in this reader look like what you would find in a textbook. This is appropriate for a non-fiction reader but younger kids may not want to reach for the book as often. On the other hand, the book first sparked a conversation when my son noted that the T. rex depicted did not look like most other T. rex pictures he has seen, nor does it look like his plastic dinosaurs. I vaguely remembered that some dinosaurs were believed to have feathers. We researched and now we know that T. rex is believed to have been covered in feathers, particularly the baby T. rex. This is a great way to start understanding that science changes over time as new evidence is discovered and what we know is updated accordingly. I am very pleased that these books are up to date with current scientific understanding.As a separate activity after reading we built a habitat for a herbivore with nest using a plastic dinosaur and playdough in a shoe box (there’s an idea for a rainy/sick day).
My toddler loves learning about all the dinosaur babies in this easy reader. Short simple descriptions allows him to memorize key facts and repeat them with me.
Good ans engaging for my 5 year old. Not too tough qnd words are big for easy sounding out.
Children will love the pictures and the simple explanation of how baby dinosaurs are hatched. Book also explores the different types of dinosaurs, diets and general daily life. Especially appreciate how loving and protective the dinosaur parents are toward their young.

Great book, the little guy I gave it too loved it, pictures, reading etc. very well done.
I recommend all the step into reading books. They keep even the most reluctant readers attention.
This it read a lot my son loves it,but I did not care for the art work.
