We've had this out from the library for a long time. My son loved it and listened to the music frequently. Finally I decided to buy a copy. He was so excited. but while it looks exactly the same, it's not! It's missing a few songs, and has a couple different ones. I thought he would like this one anyway, but he doesn't. and it's too late for us to return it. There should be some indication somewhere that these CD/books with the same cover and title and everything are not the same. Even reading the reviews on Amazon, you don't know if they are for this book or the other.

I bought this book for my eight-year old son to acquaint him with orchestral instruments, but have thoroughly enjoyed it myself. It presents the information in a logical, fun, easily understandable manner that will benefit a musical novice regardless of age. The illustrations are fantastic, and the CD is an indespensible complement that provides a fuller understanding of the concepts explained in the text.

Used this book in a home school study. LOVED IT! It was really fun. We enjoyed the pieces of music from the artists. Now that we are done we just like to listen to the CD in the car. Also we went to see an orchestra when we were done. I would recommend it to everyone. Whether you home school or not. All kids should be introduced to orchestra. I can't even count the times that my girls have noticed the orchestra music in movies, cartoons, hearing it playing in stores.... Well worth it!

Fun book that gives you a one page factoid about an artist along with a CD of a small piece of one of their compositions. Nice simple introduction to classical music with fun drawings and interesting facts. Music is songs that will be familiar to you and your kids. My two kids are really enjoying it!

My kids love this book. We homeschool and I have been using this as part of our music curriculum this year. The book is very nicely laid out.. This CD that goes along with it is perfect for young kids being introduced to orchestra music. It's fun and easy to use. I would highly recommend this to other homeschoolers and also to music teachers. Great addition to our library!

Amazon, as usual, has done a great job delivering the package well in time. Unfortunately, the book itself is a big disappointment. It looks as though it was designed for smaller children but the complex language, and the fact that there is a CD (in 2019!) that requires a separate playback device, make it pretty useless for say 4 or 5 year olds. What's more, the selection of composers for each period is completely incompetent or perhaps selected with something else than music in mind. The Romantic era, for example, includes Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Mahler but no Chopin or Berlioz, widely recognized as more prominent representatives of the period. Why would that be? At least we get Copland and Bernstein in The Modern Era... Save your money! There are many better books out there which introduce classical music to our kids in a much more competent way.

One of the best things I've given to my daughter. What a wonderful tool for teaching a child music appreciation. Delightful and really fun! My soon-to-be-five-year-old couldn't wait to read and listen again today. We didn't go through the entire book in one sitting, but have left more for tomorrow again. She was up and dancing, and telling me what she heard in the music. Very well-done, authors and publishers!

I love the book and CD overall. It is educational and interesting for all ages. But one thing that bothers me is that all treble cleffs in the illustrations are mirror written. Wish those were correctly drawn for educational purpose.

One of my favorite things about this story is the character arc of the heroine Ryleigh. Tough experiences can really break our confidence. I liked how Jennifer Youngblood explored this theme throughout the book. Chas has his own realization regarding what he really wants and I enjoyed his charisma. The "infamous" Titan Bachelor Auction plays a part in this story as it has in other Texas Titan Romances. Always a few surprises! Ooh, Ace & Silver Sanchez make an appearance too. And, I love this O'Brien family. I am excited for Ryleigh's sister Tess's story!

What a wonderful story about another Texas Titan. Chas is such a wonderful caring guy who finally finds the woman he's been searching for, someone who sees the man, not the wealth or the the famous football star. Ryleigh finds what she's always searched for, a man to help her form a loving family. I loved Chas' family, especially his sister, McKenna. Also loved Ryleigh's sister, Tess, the spitfire who always has her back. Add Noah, Ryleigh's son and what's not to like?I hope that some day Tess and McKenna will have their stories told. (I'd like an update on what happens down the road for Chas and Ryleigh.)

Chas and Ryleigh are perfect for each other. I loved cheering for Ryleigh as she overcame her insecurities. And Joey, I think we all know someone kind of like him. But Chas, I think we all WISH we knew someone like him!I would love to read Tess’s story! I hope it’s coming.

Love all of your books, once I start one I can't pit it down until I have finished it. Needless to say I can't get anything done. Keep the books coming love the ones about the football players

Loved loved loved this Texas Titan book. From the lack of self esteem from one sister to total courage from the other made the book a great read. It would be good starting off point for a new series on the Irish family of Chas O’Brian of the Titans from New Orleans. They seem like a great family!

I can’t get enough of Jennifer Youngblood’s stories! Having so many to cause let downs and put downs having self confidence is hard, but finding someone to believe in you and loving you goes a long way in HEA!

Which is a shame because it is an important subject that deserves better treatment. Ms. Noble's arguments ultimately devolve into "trust me, I'm right because such-and-such wrote about it already in...and I agree!" Don't believe me?"Recent research on Google by Siva Vaidhyanathan...who has written one of the most important books on Google to date, demonstrates its dominance over the information landscape and forms the basis of a central theme in this research."And here again,"Frank Pasquale, a professor of law at the University of Maryland, has also forewarned of the increasing levels of control that algorithms have over the many decisions made about us, from credit to dating options...."and again,"The political economic critique of Google by Elad Segev, a senior lecturer ... charges that we can no longer ignore the global dominance of Google and..."and wait, there's more,"Molly Niesen at the University of Illinois has written extensively on the loss of public accountability by federal agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which is a major contribution..."Alright, I know some of you are going to say that it is ok to cite other people's work, but beyond her statements, no further exposition is offered. The whole thing is like this.What's worse, It takes Ms. Noble roughly half the book to end her long intro about her plan of attack. Thirty-seven pages in she is still telling you:"This work is addressing a gap in scholarship on how search works and what it biases, public trust in search, the relationship of search to information studies, and the ways in which African Americans, among others, are mediated and commodified in Google."Can we get on with it?Oh, and her solution for all this is a tad comical, if not heroically ironic:“In my own imagination and in a project I am attempting to build, access to information on the web could be designed akin to a color picker tool or some other highly transparent interface, so that users could find nuanced shades of information and easily identify the borderlands between news and entertainment, entertainment and pornographers, or journalism and academic scholarship.”Break out your crayons and stop your engineers Google, all you need is a color palette!Ugh. If only the absence of color-blindness could be fixed with more color eh? Search results are not primarily the problem, lack of critical thinking skills is. Blocking misleading, inflammatory results for black-on-white crime cannot be the solution when there are people out there with racial anxieties worked to a frenzy that will keep looking until they find what matches their worldview.If all this weren't sad enough, in a last-ditch effort to end on a strong note, she caps the book off with a piece about Yelp and its business model, but I thought we were talking about Google?Cannot recommend.

I hope Google and Yahoo's executive teams take notice of this brilliantly written book by Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble. I appreciate her points that many times our internet searches are influenced by algorithms created by humans who potentially bring their gender and racial biases and in some cases racism into their mathematical outputs. I enjoyed this book and will recommend it to my colleagues.

An important text for anyone struggling to make sense of the troubling equity issues within the technology industry and platforms. I highly recommend Algorithms of Oppression.

This error and similar cases have since been programmatically removed from the search engine but the more global questions-how did we transition our communal knowledge and it’s curation to neoliberal industry absent public comment, how do we intervene in the epistemic injustice wrought by systems embedded in the public conscious as beacons of progress and innovation-remain.Algorithms of Oppression is a critical read for anyone tryna ‘Get Out!’ #JordanPeele style from the twin rise of the Trump regime and neoliberal technocracy. My only critique is the book could have benefitted from some stronger editing to elicit clearer synthesis of some of Noble’s unique insights specifically grounded in information science. The outrageous racism revealed in algorithmic outputs takes center stage and maybe rightly so, but there are points she makes along the way, that are being neglected by other scholars in the field that I would have like to seen greater focus on and more explicitly stated. I imagine it’s tough for brilliant women of color in tech to find editors that get CRT and the intersection of tech and humanities within the demographics of the American publishing world. Ultimately, the strength of the research goes along way to compensate for those shortcomings. I’m so curious to see what she will write next, the exhausting impotence of the agnostic left, weary soldiers propping up the failed project of “fairness” are not ready for this scholar’s revitalization of liberation theory post digital turn.

As most everyone buying this, you're probably in nursing school. This is the text for the program I am in. First note, be prepared to devote a decent amount of your time on this text. Like others have mentioned, it is very thorough but that also comes with lots of material and some repetition. Probably a harder read that my med-surg book which is not a positive attribute. Smaller text; each page is loaded with info. Organization wise, not the most planned out textbook I've had but not the worst; pretty much on par with your average text.

I hope you like reading the same fluff over and over again, because that's what you're getting here. Giant book that is filled with information that should only use 1/3 of the book, IF that. Not only is it filled with massive fluff, but this book contradicts itself everywhere, even within the same paragraph.

This books makes a very interesting subject, extremely boring. Way too much "filler" information added; it's like they just wanted to fill up space to get more money for the book; so much redundant information that isn't even pertinent moving forward to higher level classes. This book isn't formatted clearly, and the author clearly didn't think to draw in her audience. It is very tedious even reading a few paragraphs from this book. I'd recommend another nursing book if you're learning this subject; she doesn't know how to make it interesting to retain the information.

Loving the abundance of knowledge that this book has to offer. There are some downsides to this book however. I bought the kindle version. I don't know if the hard copy is different, but there are a lot of punctuation errors in the kindle version. Also, it takes a couple of minutes for this book to load every time I want to access it. Then it freezes my iPad almost every ten minutes. Very frustrating. I assumed it was because the book was a large file, but my med-surg book on my kindle app is about the same and I have no problems with it.

I needed it for nursing school. It’s layout is similar to other textbooks written by Perry. It’s infomative but really hard to get through. I bought mine used in good condition with just some minor highlighting.

The box was delivered in perfect condition; however, the book itself hardly came in one piece. The book was covered in dust when I unwrapped the box. The cover pulls away from the binding each time I open it now. I have to have this book for the course I am currenlty taking, if not I would have sent it back as soon as I opened it. It looks as if it could tear in half at any moment. Very disappointing for something over $100.

I really am not fond of this book. The way each chapter is formatted bothers me, everything is in the paragraph. Other textbooks I've had, have had better formatting "Key points", "expected findings" ect. The other thing I can't stand is there is no disease process explanation. I've had to use youtube and other resources to get though my class.

I had to get this book for my nursing program and it is cheaper hear than at the bookstore but I dont like the book itself. Chapters are so long and so repetitive. The material isnt broken down great either.

Simply put, this is probably the best book on Flathead V8 Ford engines in my library of probably 10+ books.The book focuses on the basics and it provided detailsI had not found in other books and manuals, e.g., removing a fuel pump.The quality and detail of the numerous photos is excellent. I would recommend this as the first book to buy about rebuilding flathead engines. Follow up with (1) Tardel & Bishop's "Ford Flathead V8 Engines" and (2) Joe Abbin's "Ford & Mercury Flathead V-8 Identification & Rebuilding Guide." Unless you are into really high performance rebuilding, these three should cover the subject well.

I've done these engines since I was an apprentice. (1957) Some general info, some 'new', as machinery and shop practices have 'improved'...But for modifications, there were 'papers' out in the '50s (Ray Brock, Roger Huntington, Barney Navarro, et al) that delved deeper into the subject.Good for light reading within wide parameters.

Great manual to disassemble, inspect and build a Ford flathead v8. Lots of step by step instructions and in color. Authors reasoning as to why he went with certain parts over other brands and where to get them.

Great book, well worth the price. I found this to be easier to read and more modern than "How to Rebuild and Modify" by Mike Bishop. The images at the end for torquing patterns are great and the pictures are perfect. I went back to the Bishop book and found it more useful the second time around, so the combination of these two can't be beat.
