I lost my first baby 9 days ago in June 22. I was 19 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I went into labor on the 20th and had him at 903 on Friday morning. He died 3 hours later. It took me 8 years to conceive him and here I am mourning my first loss ever at 27 years old. I'm trying to find every way possible to heal because I feel so incredibly broken. I joined a few support groups on Facebook and this book was recommended by one. I also was recommended " loved baby 31 devotions". I'm hoping these books will help in my healing. I hate that any of us need this book but I'm grateful for books like these.

Excellent read for providing hope and encouragement during difficult circumstances! I ordered and read this after receiving a similar diagnosis with one of our children. It was great to walk through such similar circumstances with the author's Christian perspective. The scriptures at the end of each chapter on grief, suffering, and hope were so very helpful; I kept a list to refer back to frequently, and still have that list that I pass on to others. This is a great read for anyone suffering through infertility, miscarriage, or other struggles along the lines of fertility/child baring.

Angie’s raw, open honesty seeps through the edges of this book. I felt I was entering a sacred place every time I opened its pages. I could hardly put this book down. It was an honor to share a piece of her journey and gain insight into this sacred grief journey. I sobbed through many pages. I learned new things about God that hadn’t been revealed in this way before. The gospel message is clear. Thank you, Angie, for sharing Audrey’s life.

I found Angie's website not long after I lost a much desired little boy in the second trimester of pregnancy. Weeks prior to hearing the news that there was no longer a heartbeat, we had had an ultrasound scan go from excited and chatty to ominously quiet and soberly being informed we would need the radiologist to come in to assess the situation. We found out I had low amniotic fluid and unless the situation reversed our child would not be able to develop lungs properly and would not survive. We also were advised to terminate, but opted to let God decide what would unfold for our baby. We did not know how it would all turn out, but through our tears, it was also a time of sweet closeness with God.When I found Angie's website and saw her family's profoundly poignant journey with Baby Audrey, I was touched. I related to many aspects, and was so often moved and inspired by her faith and wisdom and her eloquent writings. I knew she was planning to write a book about Audrey Caroline and then we moved abroad and I lost track of her blog and forgot about the book.A few weeks ago, I found myself remembering Angie's book and looked it up on Amazon. I immediately placed my order and eagerly awaited its arrival. When I opened my copy of the book, I was riveted and could not put it down. Her insights and wisdom and verse selections and honesty and the tender telling of her story were all profoundly moving to me!I would imagine that this book could touch anyone dealing with loss or difficult circumstances. I know for me it was so powerful because of our loss of that little boy we never held. I think her truths and insights extend to all difficult situations and trusting God even when life hurts.Along with her story, she has at the end of her book some very special and helpful chapters. There is one about helping children through loss of a sibling, one written by her husband which gives some of his perspective, and a very helpful and tender chapter about loving a friend or family member through a loss like this one.If you have lost a little one, at any stage, I think this is a remarkably healing book. I went through a lot of kleenex and my body shook with sobs at times. I also went through a lot of highlighter ink as I noted so many powerful thoughts and encouragements and truths.Thank you Angie Smith for sharing your heart and your experience so openly and so tenderly and so lovingly and so prayerfully. It was a blessing and a privilege to read your book.I see that she has another book and very much look forward to reading it as well.

I was never able to have children of my own. When I married I "gave birth" to a relationship with my husband's daughter but, by then, she was a young adult graduating into a world of her own. I am grateful to be part of the life of this precious and amazing woman, but the sting of barrenness is never too far away. Why, then, would this book be one I choose to rate so highly? Because the "what-ifs" of a child's missed life, as expressed by Mrs. Smith, are similar to those questions I've spent decades asking myself. While I will never relate to any physical part of what this author has endured, I understand, even if only slightly, what it's like to wonder what my son or daughter would be like had things been different. Though she may not agree, Angie Smith's faith is heroic, and I appreciate so much her willingness to be so vulnerable, even in the midst of her pain. I thank her for sharing her story.

I bought this book after experiencing a miscarriage in December and wow. It is a raw and real look at losing a child. Angie Smith has a way of writing so you feel as though you are having a conversation with her. I had also read Seamless by her and I love her style. It is a really honest book on grief and loss and has a section in the back with resources for those experiencing a loss or who know they may experience a child loss after birth. I have recommended it several times already and will continue to do so.

My niece is expecting a baby that, without a miracle from God, won't live after birth. Our family all read this amazing, heartbreaking book to help us minister to her and her family. What a testimony to the Grace of God and how He carries us through our most difficult trials.

Heartbreaking, but also therapeutic. I read this while waiting a natural miscarriage, and ended up needing a D&C. It hit close to home. This book helps you step back and think about life on a much larger scale while making your world seem small...in a good way. Angie writes in such a way that you feel like you are on the journey with her, rooting for her and her family the whole time. I caught myself praying for her in the middle of this book which I have never done before.

I am a huge fan of the Star Wars RPG and I collect all the associated books - from the core books to the supplements. While many are of course optional, this is one of the ones I think every Star Wars RPG'er would really enjoy having in their collection of reference books. It's amazingly illustrated, with great maps, and it sets the stage for any number of adventures/scenarios you might want to plan based on Geonosis and the Outer Rim (my personal fav). Definitely recommended.

After a wait of several months, gamers finally have a new SWRPG sourcebook in the form of Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds. If you've read Coruscant and the Core Worlds then you know the pattern that this sourcebook follows as well. While there are some gaps, players and GM's will probably be slightly more interested in this sourcebook than its older sibling, because as we all know, most of the actual action in the Star Wars universe takes place in the Outer Rim!Let's cover the aesthetics first. As usual, the SWRPG team has given us another attractive book. The image of a Republic gunship blasting its way through the sky is pretty darn cool. Between the covers this book is full-color throughout with a large amount of quality original artwork. There are a handful of photos this time as well. In short, it just feels like a Star Wars sourcebook.On to the content. The book's main focus is on 29 Outer Rim worlds. Each planet receives an overview which includes vital statistics, a basic description, a short history, a description of its people (if any), and a selection of important locations. Each planet also has a GM-only section that includes a few adventure ideas, new NPCs, and any new races, creatures, or equipment. Note that there are no new feats or prestige classes at all. Minor worlds like Roon and Kintan receive an average of 5 pages of attention, while major worlds like Geonosis and Kamino receive 8-11 pages each. Again, keep in mind that each entry is a generous but broad overview, not an exhaustive description.Most worlds, like Bespin, Dathomir, and Ossus have appeared in the movies or novels at some point. Some worlds seem to be brand new. However, three notable worlds are missing entirely: Hoth, Naboo, and Tatooine. Sure, Hoth doesn't have a lot going on, but a page or two would have been nice for the sake of completeness. The authors also explain that Naboo and Tatooine were left out because they already have their own sourcebooks. And they do- but they were (in my opinion) mediocre sourcebooks that are now years out of print. I understand the logic, but it's not an omission I care for. On the other hand, the authors state in the foreward that they may produce a second volume on the Outer Rim if there is sufficient interest. I hope they do.I also found it interesting that the table of contents lists the NPC's, creatures, equipment, and other extras by page number, and not in alphabetical order. That's not a choice that I would have gone with, but everything is still listed by category as well, so locating an entry is still easy enough.As a player, the main thing I like about this sourcebook is how sharply the worlds contrast with each other. That makes for excellent character background material. As a GM, I really liked the adventure hooks. The authors have taken the hooks a step further by linking some of the worlds together for two-part adventure ideas. That was a nice touch.There are also 86 new NPCs (each with a personality and background, and most linked to a specific planet), 15 new species, 10 new pieces of equipment, 10 new vehicles, 1 new starship, 28 new creatures, and 1 new droid. The vast array of new NPCs and creatures in particular seem to provide a wealth of options for roleplaying, combat, or just as a spur for new ideas.And oh yes... there are many maps as well. Compared to previous books, map quality has really improved. The maps are bigger than they have been, and finally, every single one actually has a key! In fact, the map of the Great Temple on Yavin IV takes up a whole page and is perfect for anyone running a Rebellion or New Jedi Order campaign.Overall, despite a few flaws and ommissions, Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds is a good, solid reference. Players will like it for its wide array of background material, and GMs will also appreciate the ready-made worlds, adventure hooks, NPCs, and creatures. In short, this is fertile soil for any campaign that ventures into the Outer Rim.

This book is a must read for partners with different sex drives. It's amazing how many parts of this book pertain exactly to our situation. However in order for this book to help your relationship, both partners would have to read it because it's not going to work without the effort of both. It gave me a new perception and understanding of my husband and has helped us communicate more on this topic. I'm not usually big on self help books but this is an exception and I'd highly recommend it to couples.

I decided to read this book due to the lack of affection and sex in my marriage. I will say for myself it has opened my eyes to a lot of different issues that others have gone through. Me being a woman the tables are turned. He is the one with the lack of Desire. Good read..great content and did provide tips. I will be purchasing The Sex-Starved Wife.

This book is a great book I was feeling hopeless. I am glad I am not the only person that feels like I am starving my husband needs. Fast shipping

Some books are insightful and helpful, some books not so much, this book may actually be toxic to your marriage.It's almost a joke...the author presents "cases" of couples with a specific problem and then ENDS the chapter. No advice, no solutions or results are explained or demonstrated. She fills her chapters with statistics and observations, explanations of biology (how are bodies work). Interesting? Did you know men's bodies are different than women's? What a mindblowing fact! These trivial pointless obvious "facts" will not provide an answer to the problem of mismatched or low libido. The author has one BIG answer...Just do it! She spends the better part of 224 pages defending this statement. I used the word "toxic" because this Nike approach can have a harmful effect on relationships. This "Tinder" one size fits all answer is totally inadequate for both men and women. This book is great.I bought this book to help deal with my inhibition, and this was not the book for that, but I will say that this book is fantastic.It is addressed to couples whose frustration with their sex lives is extreme, and negatively affecting their marriage. The first part of the book addresses the low-sex partner, talks about how the high-sex partner feels, gives many possible reasons for low-sex drive, and then many varied solutions. The next part talks to the high-sex partner, giving him insight into the low-sex spouse, then another extensive list of possible solutions. The last part talks about communication and general marriage advice.The book is very practical, very thorough, and strikes a good balance between being sympathetic and proactive. The author is very hands-on and solutions oriented. This is not a psychoanalytic book. It discusses emotions and feelings enough to be helpful, and is jam-packed with practical solutions.Ulimately, the moral of this book is that if you are willing to put in the work and be emotionally mature, you can help your relationship.I highly recommend this book for anyone whose sex life causes them severe pain.

Good book

This book is very helpful to have if you are a community activist interested in saving trees and maintaining the canopy of your neighborhood and city. It is not only informative, and makes an excellent argument toward the rights of trees, but it is a particularly good thing to wave about at City of Miami Historic Preservation Board hearings where we regularly go to appeal tree removals.

Published just two weeks before the Gulf Oil disaster, the updated "Should Trees Have Standing?: Law, Morality, and the Environment" takes on extra significance in arguing that the environment itself has an important place in the debate over how much human damage should be tolerated.First published in 1972, author Christopher D. Stone's arguments have taken on new urgency, laying out a case that environmental issues can't be seen only from the human perspective and that trees, the land and the water are themselves worthy of rights. This edition updates his initial argument, noting that his original argument seemed over the top 38 years ago, but have won fans and legal support. As he notes, the argument that streams or forests have no standing because they don't speak has no meaning when corporations are granted rights alongside people. Part of the argument is that future generations of people have a right to a quality environment but Stone's argument runs deeper, explaining current case law and the tussle over the definition of legal standing. He also assesses the place and success and failure of environmentalism itself.This is an honest look at the effects of his own argument, a good legal analysis of what the courts and individuals have decided to accept and a forward-looking assessment of what could come next. Students of environmental issues, lawyers and others will find this book a valuable tool in understanding the issues beyond the effects of poisoned water or destroyed mountain tops on humans and into a eco-centric view of what we should be doing.

Introduction- Should Trees Have StandingLegal standing is a term which applies to the ability of a person, or parties to demonstrate their position before a court. In the context of environmental law, there has been great discourse regarding the nature of legal standing and its applicability to natural objects. This includes forests, oceans, rivers, and other objects which ought to have some degree of recognized rights but do not have the faculties to independently obtain them. Christopher D. Stone has become a forerunner in the environmental movement by writing his seminal book, "Should Trees Have Standing?", amongst his other literature, which proposes the idea of bestowing rights into non human parties. Stone's proposal first identified that perhaps a form of legal representation would benefit the environment. This is referred to as the Guardian, whose position was original created and defined in the Maltese Proposal. A guardian would speak on behalf of natural objects who could clearly not speak for themselves, and would therefore see to the representation of the environment's interests. Secondly, Stone proposed the creation of a Global Common Trust Fund, or a GCTF to finance the first proposal of guardianship. He considers the benefits of having a fund that is not constructed and dependent on voluntary donations, such as the previous funds were. Nonetheless, the Guardian proposal would provide protection to the environment, specifically the commons, and the GCTF would be the mechanism to support it financially. Lastly, Stone commented in regards to the overall livelihood or death of the environmental movement. There needs to be a change in individual values and how people assess their impact on the world. Despite slow progress, Stone concludes by identifying that environmentalist efforts are at their best, and therefore appear to be alive.Literature Strengths-Foregoing Stone's proposal, one ought to consider the depth of his arguments. This claim is important because if Guardian's were operated by the government, it would present the risk of the operations becoming a political instrument or even swayed from political subjectivity. This would certainly hinder the effectiveness of Guardians. On the contrary, a non governmental agency would make the best Guardian because they are more free to scrutinize the actions of the government. Stone provides strong support for the guardian position. Moreover, he also presents strong arguments in regards to the Global Commons Trust Fund proposal. It is important to emphasize the fact that the GCTF is not just a creative user tax, but rather it is an instrument used to ensure the sustainability of the global commons. Stone identifies that the GCTF "simply seeks from users of the global commons a reasonable fee so as to apply it back to the commons". This is important because state-nations receive benefits from paying into the program and would therefore be more inclined to obliged by its provisions. Money collected from a wrongdoer will be used in respect to the restoration of the commons, as opposed to conventional litigation which would waste financial resources of both the defendant and the plaintiff. Foregoing these arguments and the complexity of the subject, one must lastly consider the clarity of the text. Stone provides great insight with respect to in depth legal matters. He does this all while maintaining relatively comprehensible language. This is important for the overall success of the environmental movement because it provides those who haven't studied law a foundation to which they can begin to develop their environmental literacy.Literature Weaknesses-Clearly a reader must consider the strength of Stone's position, however one must further recognize that some arguments were poorly addressed throughout the text. Let us first view the inherent problems that are attributed to Stone's proposal regarding the implementation of a Guardian. According to Stone, "The proposal contemplates appointment of an eminent person, without known prejudice, having practical wisdom, integrity, moderation and humility." This is a definition that at first glance appears to be whole, however it increasingly becomes questionable when viewed in depth. The accessibility of these qualities seems rather subjective. For instance, it would be problematic if two countries couldn't agree upon what constitutes "moderation and humility".Certainly there would then be a great deal of problems attributed the the Guardian's appointment process, such as creating international consensus as to who best constitutes the the Guardian position. We must therefore recognize that Stone's proposal embodies some inherent problems. To further support this, Stone identifies that "the bulk of the efforts will require concerted and cooperative action among nations". If the costs of a treaty outweigh its benefits, certainly a nation-state will be unlikely to participate. The Kyoto protocol emphasizes this point because it has failed to bind one of the largest polluter in the world, the United States. Therefore, clearly there have been, and likely will be more problems regarding international consensus for many environmental issues. Furthermore, we must also consider weaknesses in regards to Stone's preservation argument. He proposes that Guardians preserve the environment for future generations. However, this too is inherently problematic because involves the discretion of current generations with respect to their perceived value of certain objects. This is identified in the quote "in predicting the value future persons will attach to an environmental legacy, under estimation is at least as much of a trap as over estimations." The problem is that what we perceive to be of important now, may not necessarily be held of similar value by future generations. Clearly this weakens Stones argument because the process of preservation has proven itself to be a sort of guessing game. Lastly, one must also recognize that Stone's position is weakened by the fallacies incorporated in his arguments. In particular, his space argument is questionably a slippery slope and seems to be an exaggeration of current reality. Stone talks about "Tapping the wealth of the planets" and "auctioning space slots that would yield several hundred millions annually." Maybe this argument will become reality or of relevance sometime in the future. However, this is certainly not a current issue. The argument appears to be far fetched, and so it's presence weakens Stone's overall position. Summary/ General Evaluation-In summary, Stone's central thesis is that natural objects should be granted legal rights and or standing to ensure a greater recognition of their rights. Stone identified remedies to which he felt would best advance the environmental movement. Stone first proposed that guardianship is necessary for the protection and preservation of the environment. Then he claimed that a Global Commons Trust Fund would finance this establishment. To reconcile the strengths and weaknesses of his proposal, it would appear that Stone effectively argues his position. Stone recognizes the limitations of law, and notes that the legal process is not necessarily a whole solution. Notwithstanding some contradictory arguments, and even sometimes fallacious statements; Stone's position is generally concise, valid, and comprehensive. Therefore, Stone's novel "Should Trees Have Standing" is an overall success. It is without a doubt that this text will remain a seminal piece of literature in the environmental movement.

I purchased this in 1972 at the height of Mineral King, a Forest Service - Disney proposal in the southern Sierra Nevada. It has been in my thoughts and understanding ever since (1972 - 2014, 42 years). The arguments are solid, but those who worship unlimited growth ("Cornucopians") still subscribe to "more is better", and refuse to recognize limits or carrying capacity.

I bought four of these for Christmas, for each family member. We were able to say the Christmas prayer together as well as some others since. Of course the prayers aren't meant to be an end-all prayer manual. Luther's humble heart and lavish love for God however leads the way by example, helping to develop a mindset we need to have, to stand in awe of our Savior and Father. I love Luther's prayers so much that I often write them in my prayer journal before adding mine. Does God listen more to Luther's prayers? Of course not, but I consider them a vehicle, an arrow toward a closer, more loving yet respectful, relationship to my Father in heaven.It is worthy of note also that sometimes when you don't know how to pray in a particular situation, what to say, where to start, these prayers help you to focus, to meditate, to come up with words of your own.The small catechism, which I have separately, is woven throughout the book, which is helpful and timely. I am newly Lutheran of the Missouri Synod but think these prayers, this book, would be good and meaningful for anyone who wants to develop a closer relationship to God.

This book is full of wonderful prayers that would be suitable for many different faiths, not just Lutherans. This book will help provide inspiration for your prayers and for many who struggle with knowing how to pray, it is helpful. There are prayers for many occasions, concerns, causes, and life events.This would make a great gift for those being confirmed into the Lutheran faith as well.

I didn't grow up in a religious household, but I have really been exploring my faith the past handful of years. I had no idea this book existed until I was looking for a copy of the Lutheran Service Book to have at home and I came across this little gem. The description sounded awesome so I ordered it. It's been a joy to read through and utilize this book the past few weeks I've had it. It's a must have for every Lutheran person/family, or any religious person/family for that matter. I'd highly recommend it!

Perhaps I am not the intended audience of this book. This edition waxes a little to the "fluffy" side and leaves out many occasions where prayer is desired for me and my family. Overall, it has been added to my daily reading and serves as a solid prayer book daily devotions with my two young children. A great option for older Christians.

Martin Luther always seems to be able to touch my heart with his thoughts about his beliefs and this is one of the best books written about enhancing a prayer life and finding the "right" thing to say in your conversations with God. Covers many of life's ups and downs, life's many special occurrences, and it's sad times as well. I highly recommend this book for all Christians as they are God centered with a wonderfully vast selection of different prayers.

Although I have my differences with the Missouri Synod, from whose publishing house this book issues, I have absolutely no complaints about this book and I keep it near my bed for daily devotions. The prayers are simple but eloquent, and there is a good variety of them both for various days of the week and the year and also for special occasions or times of trouble. It is a good, basic prayer book that every Lutheran should have, and it is attractive to look at as well, which is always a plus.

I love this companion book to my Lutheran collections. Sometimes when life is too painful it's hard to know "how" to pray, especially when others need our prayers. God is not a "buddy" I carry around in my pocket. How we approach and pray to the "Almighty" is important. The prayers themselves have been a great comfort to me as well, as I am reminded of how very much my Heavenly Farher loves all His children.

I myself am a Lutheran and I thought that this would be a unique buy to add to collection of religious books. I really, really like this book. It has a prayer for almost any life/important occasion/event. I would recommend this book really to anyone who is looking to increase their prayer scope. I also like the quality of the book, I like it's size and I like the nice ribbon bookmark incorporated into the book. I also like that it had daily prayers. It was also an affordable price, I have given these as gifts to friends and family and they love it. A great buy.
